** Don’t forget that school is closed on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th May for the Ascension holiday**

Week beginning 15th May 2017

This week many classes have been working on their writing assessments. Today two boys in ID 5 proudly came and shared their writing with me. It is always interesting to see the journey that the children go on in the writing process from first making marks on paper when they enter school to writing interesting and well-structured stories. If your child likes writing, encourage them at home to keep a journal with ideas or use the computer to type a story. Maybe one day we will have a famous author as an HSV alumni member!

On Thursday we had the photographer in. The staff particularly liked the way he interacted with the photos and we hope he has captured some good shots of your children. We will distribute the photos as soon as they are ready and provide instructions as to how to pay for them online.

Het Keringhuis trip

ID 5 has just started their final IPC unit “Go with the Flow” looking at river systems and water management. On Tuesday next week they will visit the Keringhuis in the Hook of Holland for a tour and to discover more about the great flood of 1953.

Testing

The children in the ID 1 to 6 classes will complete the Progress in English (PIE) and Progress in Mathematics (PIM) tests in the next two weeks. Please make sure that your child has a good night’s sleep before the tests so that they are alert and able to do their best on them.
